  • PAL games on my NTSC setup have the least chance of working. Most PAL games work just fine, since the soft-mod software should detect and compensate for the different region. But sometimes they don't work.

  • Games that run at PAL60 are produced with the same colour encoding system as 50 Hz PAL signals, but with the NTSC resolution and field rate of 60 Hz, providing an identical gaming experience to their NTSC counterparts, however some games, such as Tekken 4 and Tekken 5, will actually use the NTSC color mode when in 60 Hz mode; these games will.
  • Best Answer: No. There are no compact discs that are compatible with the Nintendo Wii except the actual games themselves. You cannot copy it and then save it onto a NTSC disc. You can only play a PAL game on a PAL system. No other systems will work with a PAL game.
  • DIOS MIOS is a modification to your Wii's system software that allows you to play GameCube (GCN) games on your Wii from a FAT32 hard drive DIOS MIOS is not an application you access, but rather an internal mod that is used by the your USB Loader to run the Gamecube games.

All of the research I've done has shown that playing PAL games on an NTSC Wii is rather easy, if those games are being digitally loaded off of an external HD. I've recently acquired a PAL game I'd like to play and I was hoping that there would be a USB drive solution to allow me to run the PAL game off the disc with my NTSC Wii.

I can imagine this is a pretty redundant question, but the disc+usb issue is something I'm having trouble finding information on. Thanks very much for your attn.

Wii Freeloader

European Wii owner here, and I'm very keen on playing the uncensored version of No More Heroes as well as the game Harvey Birdman: Attorney At Law which hasn't been (and probably won't ever be) released over here.

But is there any way I can play NTSC games on my PAL system? I've heard about the Freeloader, which would even work on GameCube games, but I know it's now been locked out in the newer Wii firmware. I've also read about a way you can avoid getting these updates to keep the Freeloader working, but that sounds kind of clunky to me; I'm guessing I'll be getting the upgrades sooner or later.
